CHICAGO — On Saturday, a coalition called by Legalization For All and led by the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (CAARPR) gathered at La Villita Park in Little Village, Chicago to rally for immigrants and protest recent ICE raids and deportations. A string of activists and organizers spoke to the audience, including Alderpersons Michael D Rodriguez (22) and Byron Sigcho-Lopez (25), the latter of whom denounced the Trump administration’s actions in his ward.

“The fight – it is in the [Chicago City] Council, it is in the courts, but it’s in the streets. It is in our neighborhoods to make sure that we don’t allow these cowards to come and terrorize us.”

After speeches, the crowd, numbering at least 600, proceeded to march west on 26th until Pulaski. Police, protest marshals, and National Lawyers Guild observers in their neon-green hats were present with no incident. Forming a circle at that intersection, final speeches were made as the light rain turned to sleet, which turned to snow. 2/9/2025.
